MEMBERSHIP ADVANTAGES

The privileges of being a member with the Christian Martial Arts Fellowship include:

Students in your chapter should be constantly moving in rank toward the next level. The CMAF suggests utilizing the Stripe Ranking System. Each belt rank is divided into four parts. As the student completes each segment of rank, they will be given a BLACK STRIPE. Once they have successfully completed all components they will be given a RED STRIPE. The Red Stripe is an indicator that the student is ready for rank advancement during the next promotion time at your school.

The CMAF believes there are two major components in training; the Martial Art and the Martial Science.

As a CMAF member, you are serving as a minister of Christ, never loose sight of this awesome responsibility. Look for every opportunity to weave the Gospel into everything you teach and share with your school.

DISCIPLE, DISCIPLE, DISCIPLE!!!

PROPOSED RESPONSIBILITIES FOR MEMBER SCHOOL LEADERSHIP !
WHAT'S YOUR NAME? Learn the Names of Your School Members. They are Your Ministry!! Nothing makes a child or adult feel more unique and important than when you know their name and use often. Knowing the student's name is especially important if you should see them outside of class. This sends a message that you have taken a personal interest in them and their education, and that we are genuinely interested in their learning experience. An significant part of being successful in ministry development and discipleship is based upon relationship building. The first step in this process is learning the student's first name.

MISSING IN ACTION! Have Your Own Record of Who Is There and Who Is Missing. If a student misses a class call the student. By keeping your own record you will be able to welcome a student back if they should miss a week. Encourage your students to let you know ahead of time if they are going to miss class. Stress that this is proper martial arts etiquette. Also, you may wish to reward those who maintain perfect attendance.

CALLING ALL KARATE-KA! CALLING ALL KARATE-KA! Learn What's Happening Outside of Class. Call ALL of Your Active Students (students who haven't missed the last three weeks) the first week of each month. This will help you to maintain a personal link to your students. This also provides an opportunity for them to ask any "informal" questions about the ministry.

SPREADIN' THE NEWS! Monthly Report on Group Activity and Achievement. CMAF members who direct their own schools are encouraged to fill out the "WHO'S IN DA HOUSE" monthly report form and submit the document to the hosting church leadership. This is your opportunity to share the blessings of your ministry! It is also a good opportunity to let the pastors/eldership know about challenges (we all have them!) you are facing, or needs you have within your ministry group. Always look for new ways to make the ministry better. Write down any ideas that you feel will improve the ministry.

MOTIVATIN' THE TROOPS! Incentives to Promote Group Attendance and Growth. It is important to provide young people with many incentives to maintain their interest in the ministry. You should plan on having: Weekly; Monthly; and Semester (Spring and Fall) awards for your students. There should also be a "If You Return Next Semester You Will Win..." component to your motivational package. Be as creative and thrifty as possible to get the BIGGEST BANG for your buck! Consider having your ministry award a "Warrior of the Month" trophy to one student who best demonstrates the true spirit of Christian karate training. This needs to be built up as a BIG DEAL to the students, and something they should aspire to achieve.

"A COACH WITHOUT A TEAM IS NOT A COACH; A TEACHER WITHOUT STUDENTS IS NOT A TEACHER. LOVE YOUR STUDENTS WITH THE LOVE OF CHRIST OUR LORD."
